Jessica has been featured on the TEDx stage, The Huffington Post, She Owns It, and as a guest on dozens of podcasts. In her five year plus speaking career, she has stood on stage at Fortune 100 companies like Nike, nonprofits like The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and NAEM, and educational institutions such as The University of Oregon and George Fox University.
Jessica is on a mission to put more women in positions of power by advancing the professional development of strong, wise female leaders.
This mission is inspired by her personal journey to leadership from humble beginnings in a working class family in rural North Carolina. In 2003 Jessica graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications from Wake Forest University and drove west to Los Angeles. She started her career working in sales, marketing, and advertising, and then took a couple of years off to travel the west coast on a sailboat.
In 2009, at the height of the recession, Jessica landed in Portland, Oregon flat broke with no job prospects in sight. Over the course of the next six years, she became a certified yoga instructor, graduated with a master’s degree in strategic communications from The University of Oregon, and won several awards for her work as a social change agent, marketer and community builder.
After three years as an Account Director for Mac’s List, a global community of individuals seeking work in the state of Oregon and Prichard Communications, a firm dedicated to supporting nonprofits and foundations, Jessica left to start the Superwoman Project. In 2016 she became a certified Martha Beck Life Coach.
Jessica’s 15 years experience in business showed her that a lot needs to be done to support the advancement of strong, wise female leaders and she felt called to devote her work to this cause. Jessica’s approach to training female leaders encourages them to be authentic and true to themselves, to tap into their intuition, creativity and curiosity, and to leverage the new world of work to their advantage. She teaches women how to get ahead without having to act like a man.
“If you empower one woman, you empower the world”
Jessica believes putting more women in positions of power will help the world solve some of its biggest problems — not because women are better than men, but because we need women’s voices, opinions and leadership at the table where important decisions are made.
Her service to this work is personal, and she cares deeply about the mission. Jessica knows in her heart that an empowered woman (whatever her race, religion or politics) is the change we so desperately need in the world.
Jessica feels more at home in the Pacific Northwest than anywhere in the world. She splits her time between her home in Seattle, WA and her community of visionary entrepreneurs in Portland, OR.
"I’ve had the pleasure of working with Jessica in both one-on-one coaching, as well as her group programs. Her inspirational and practical approach has totally transformed the way I view my career. I used to think that in order to be successful I had to leave my true self at home. Now, I understand that the only way I can be truly successful is if I bring my career into alignment with my true self. I look forward to continuing to work with her and would recommend working with her to any woman who wants to take the next step in her career."
"Jessica led ChickTech’s three-part Negotiation and Career Development workshop series in January 2016. Her presentations were empowering and informative, inspiring many collectively experienced ‘ah-hah’ moments. Speaking from a deep place of truth she led really fantastic, open, vulnerable discussion amongst the attendees. She eloquently answered their questions about negotiation, networking, and advancing one’s career. Within the course of the three week series, one woman negotiated for a $5k pay raise!"
