Today we talk to Superwoman Summit 2017 mainstage speaker, Michael Knouse. Michael is THE coach for visionary business builders and high performing entrepreneurs. He hosts The Startup Sessions Podcast and is creator of The Council of Visionary Business Builders.

Michael empowers mission-driven business leaders to achieve their full human potential through entrepreneurship. Working with Michael ensures that you will execute on your boldest ideas, implement proven strategies for growth and have the most impactful year of your life.

Michael lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife Jill, and his very favorite things are trail running, shredding steeps, quiet hikes, yoga, playing with Addiebelle (the cutest dog in the world), having life-shifting conversations, enjoying an excellent cup of coffee, and experiencing new cultures and traditions through travel.

Leading up to The Superwoman Summit, we asked Michael a few questions:

What do you think is the greatest challenge facing professional women who want to excel?

Women often try to take on too much at once and end up living in a state of overwhelm, often leading to burnout, health issues, and losing much of their identity in the process. The masculine energy in our culture is seductively clever and easy to get caught up in. Yet the tide is shifting. Our culture is thirsty for purpose-driven leaders who embrace their inner wisdom and focus on compassion and social benefit just as much as profits and power.

If you have one piece of advice for professional women when it comes to leadership, what would it be?

Confidence comes from courage and courage comes from doing the things that scare you, over and over, until they don't scare you anymore.

Name a female leader you admire and why:

My wife, Jill Knouse. She leads from her heart, does things her way, is an amazing community builder, and has created a badass business in the process.

What is your favorite quote to inspire women leaders?

"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" - Mary Oliver
