So this happened.
I was networking at a benefit for my local NPR station, sharing a cocktail table with a crowd of women and men. The conversation was flowing and I was having a great time. The two women across the table asked me “What do you do?”
I said, “I’m a career and leadership coach for women and the name of my business is The Superwoman Project.”
This was their response:
I’m not kidding.
It makes me laugh and at the same time, I totally forgive those ladies for their overt judgement.
But this got me to thinking…
What did they think The Superwoman Project was about, anyways?
So I thought I should be clear.
The Superwoman Project is a safe, loving place for women to come for professional development support and should NOT (not ever) illicit that kind of response.
The Superwoman Project is not a statement that women should do it all, be it all or accomplish it all. The Superwoman Project instead believes that the world would be a better place with more women in positions of power and that a woman doesn’t have to act like a man to be a leader or get ahead.
The Superwoman Project is not a judgement on your choices as a woman. Whether you choose to be a stay-at-home mother, not have kids at all, travel the world, start a business, run a company, be a leader, a maker, a creator... or some choice along the spectrum...The Superwoman Project is for you no matter your life choices. It is a place to stand your own damn ground with strength, love and grace.
The Superwoman Project is here to give women permission to be their most authentic self at work, at home and in community.
The Superwoman Project is not a rejection of motherhood in favor of work. The Superwoman Project favors your highest and best self, in whatever way you choose to express that.
The Superwoman Project is not here to point out your less than super qualities (weaknesses). It’s here to bolster your greatest strengths and talents so that you can step more boldly into your greatness, unapologetically and fiercely.
The Superwoman Project is not a rejection or exclusion of men, the LGBTQ community, or any religion or race. It’s inclusive of EVERYONE in an effort to empower the feminine and bring more diversity to power.
The Superwoman Project is not a disrespect to the women who have come before us. The Superwoman Project stands on the shoulders of the women who have paved the way (and we express our gratitude for their strength and commitment).
The Superwoman Project is on a mission to put more women into positions of power and this work extends far into the future -- it probably will not be fully realized in our lifetime -- and the women who come after us, can stand proudly on our shoulders.
The Superwoman Project is not a millennial thing or a youthful notion. It’s an every human thing.
The Superwoman Project isn’t here to burn the patriarchy to the ground, but to shatter that glass ceiling, pave the way, and bring everyone along in the process. Together we can achieve harmony, divided we fail.
The Superwoman Project is here to inspire you to own your superpowers and honor your inner wisdom.
The Superwoman Project asks you to be YOU -- boldly, fiercely, unapologetically.
And here’s the thing, The Superwoman Project wants you to have fun while doing all of this.
The Superwoman Project is not that boring, stuffy corporate meeting crap.
You know, the stuff that makes you go like this…
The kind of meeting that makes you want to do this:
At The Superwoman Project, we believe professional development is fun. We believe being a leader is AWESOME (and a privilege). AND we feel unabashedly that being a conscious, creative, visionary entrepreneur is the most amazing, exhilarating, profoundly powerful privilege. So we refuse to trade fun for professionalism. We believe you can have both.
The Superwoman Project should make you feel like this:
At The Superwoman Project we are professional but fun, playful and creative, but bold and powerful.
At The Superwoman Project, we don’t suffer fools, but we show compassion to others.
At The Superwoman Project, we bring harmony to our patriarchal society by empowering feminine principles (such as creativity, curiosity, compassion, empathy, communication, collaboration and intuition).
At The Superwoman Project we show the world that a woman can be strong, feminine, creative, kind, compassionate, intuitive, strategic, analytic, mindful and powerful all at the same time. And that the world would be a better place if we all did that.
So you’re all invited to come along.
All the moms. All the single ladies. All races. All lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgenders and queers. All manbassadors are invited too.
